Day Sixteen: A Song I Used To Love But Now I Hate (50th Post!!)

Fifty posts... I've hit fifty!! Finally fifty!! Hahaha!! Now, let's have a random dance party in all our little corners of the world for two minutes!! Now, all sit down!!

Today's topic is a song I used to love but now I hate, as you can see in the title. The thing is though, any song that I used to love, I don't hate. I couldn't. They all have some sort of special, sentimental tie to me. I can't hate them, no matter what they sound like. They bring back too many memories.

However, there is one song that I am going to post. I'm going to make it perfectly clear though that I do not hate this song. Its just that I don't like it as much as I used to. It's a song that was actually my first CD ever. I had it on tape- remember those? The music before the era of CDs and iPods?- and then dad bought the CD.

It's a song with a rather irritating video. I don't know what it is about it- perhaps it has something to do with the cartoon chocolate?- but I can't possibly like it very much. But the song is still really close to my heart. So I guess I really do love it. But if it wasn't so special to me, I wouldn't like it at all. Here's the song:

Sweet Like Chocolate- Shanks and Bigfoot

That's really all I have to say tonight- except that I won't be able to post again until Monday night. Tomorrow I'm going to play Lasertag with my wife, Lemur (yeah, we're married. Facebook says so, so it must be true!), the guy I like, my ex (we're still on good terms; it's possible), and a bunch of other random freaks I am proud as all hell to call my friends. Then on the weekend, I'm going on a mini-safari with rotary for the exchange program. Four teenage girls with the rotarians- we'll see how that goes!

So, Monday's post will be a song I hear often on the radio. Awesome. That depends on which radio station. I listen to about three. Well, I have three days to find the mode (I have a lot of that stuck in my head; mean, median and mode. It's on our maths assignment, which is rather long and painful) so I guess I've got the time to figure it out!!

Day Fifteen: A Song That Describes Me

Hey, faithful readers, sorry I haven't been posting lately!! This time though, I have a reason. It's because I died on Saturday. Yes, according to Harold Camping, the world was supposed to end at 6pm on Saturday night. I wonder what that would mean, though, if the world did end and we all died. What would we be? Would we be ghosts? Angels? Just plain corpses?

I always seem to go off on a random tangent for some reason. Today's post is a song that describes me. That is extremely easy. I've mentioned this song before. It's by a rather-quite-epic little Aussie band by the name of Amy Meredith. They have  generally awesome music, so you should all listen to it, ok, GO!!!

Well, sticking around to read the rest of the post is cool too, because I'm going to post one of their songs, the one that describes me! It basically sums me up in a nutshell. It's a fun song, but in a different way to Short Stack's Stack Is The New Black album (the first one, with Maurice the Pirate on the front), and it basically sums up the way I am inside, my generally bubbly interior. The song is... drumroll...

Young At Heart- Amy Meredith

You can't not like this song, seriously. But now that I think of it, there's another song that describes me- not the way I actually am, necessarily, but it's me in a different way- a song that I've also mentioned before, and posted, months and months ago when the video first came out. In case you were too lazy/busy/generally couldn't be bothered/busy drooling over Dylan Nash to pay attention to the song, I'll post it again:

Hey Kt- The Never Ever

My theme songs. Right there. Tomorrow, I'll be posting a song that I used to love but now I hate. Hmm, will have to think about that one. I'm going to rack off now, because State Of Origin's on. For my international readers/followers/ninjas, State Of Origin is a very, very important game of rugby league in Australia. Well, to narrow it down more, it's even more of an urgently important game to anyone in New South Wales (known as "The Blues" or "Cockroaches"), or Queensland ("The Maroons" or "Cane Toads"), apart from the people that would rather hear about every second of Charlie Sheen's drug and alcohol troubles than watch NRL. It's done in three parts, and Queensland has won five consecutive games in the last few years. And no, it is not going to be six.

Now that you understand- well, at least have a general gist of- State Of Origin if you didn't before: if anyone ever asks, just raise your fists in the air in an enthusiastic way and yell "GO THE BLUES!!"

Day Fourteen: A Song No-one Would Expect Me To Love

I do attempt to make it clear to anyone who will listen, that my taste in music isn't simply roped off to songs by awesome pop-punk, alternative stuff. I do have a variety of music on my iTunes. Don't believe me? Here's a selection that I think has a pretty wide variety.

And there's a lot more where that came from. Trust me.

Even seeing that, some people still choose to be shocked when they find out what one of my favourite songs is. And it's not a new song. I've never mentioned them before, I don't think, but I think they are pretty damn amazing. I think I'm the only chick in my grade that thinks they are legends. I went to their tribute show when it came locally, and I bought their t-shirt. *Sadly* it's the only band t-shirt I have.

I could only be talking about Queen. My friends can't believe that I like them so much, especially last year, when I was bordering on obsession. But not quite as obsessed as with Short Stack. My poor exchange sister has to deal with my dreams of marrying Bradie Webb, and of course she doesn't quite see it the same way as I do. Speaking of which, I had to write a formal letter in Indonesian class yesterday, and I wrote to Bradie. Maybe this will explain how much I adore him.

But wait!! I was talking about Queen, and a song no-one would expect me to love!! It won't come as such a shock now, but I absolutely, positively adore all of their songs. I'm going to post two of my favourites:

Bohemian Rhapsody- Queen

Under Pressure- Queen feat. David Bowie

I was just wondering, do any of my readers speak Indonesian at all? Or any other language, for that matter? If so, comment below!! Tomorrow, I'll post again, which will be a song that describes me. Too easy.

Day Thirteen: A Song That Is My Guilty Pleasure

As you can see, the point of this post is a song that is a guilty pleasure. I did say that I was going to try and be clever, but I thought that the song fit better under another category. Well, I've picked a song; and it's really dorky. Sometimes, when I go out with my friends, we hear this song being played. I start jumping around and screaming as I typically do, but Blondie is the only one who joins me. The rest of them stand there rolling their eyes at us and laughing. Understandable. But it's still a cool song. I'm posting the video here:

Pretty Fly (For A White Guy)- The Offspring

It's a very... interesting song, to put it that way. But I can't help but sing and scream and jump to it. I mean really, who  hasn't heard the song before? None of my friends ever raised their hands at that question. It's a well known song- for most people, anyway- and it's catchy.

I don't really have anything witty or intelligent to say today, so I leave you all with this thought: don't lick ducks. ‎37% of all ducks are licked each year, and 62% are licked at least once in their lifetime, and not one of those ducks have somewhere to turn to for help.

Tomorrow's post- a song no one would expect me to love. Stay tuned, guys, and keep commenting suggestions for duck names!! So far, we have "Cheese and Quackers," and T-WAC suggested "Aloicious" (pronounced al-oo-ISH-is). There will be a poll beginning at the end of June, for you all to vote on your favourite name. The winner gets to have their blog advertised on mine for a month!! Yeah, kind of a lame comp, seeing as I only have twelve followers thus far, but everyone else is doing it!

Stay in school, say no to drugs, listen to your mother and don't lick ducks!

Day Twelve: A Song From A Band I Hate

Once again, today's post is extremely straightforward. There aren't many bands that I passionately hate, but unfortunately, they do exist. Why? Why must bad music exist? Listening to a horrible song makes me actually want to fall to my knees and raise my hands to the heavens screaming "Why?! WHY?!" while crying in the pouring rain. Sort of like a really over-dramatic scene in a movie that you sit and laugh at because it's just so stereo-typical.

Back to the point, which is that bad music does exist, in many forms. Some people find screamo a problem. I don't, but some do. Some people find Short Stack and Evanescence a problem *curse them* but they are amazing and they shouldn't ever think that way. Well, I guess everyone's entitled to their own opinion, but they're still wrong by me. And Smiley. Indefinitely.

And of course, bad music truly exists, a pure and unnecessary evil in the form of horrible bubble-gum pop, like- oh, I don't know... Justin Bieber. I guess he's not a horrible, terrible person, as I spent the whole of last week on work experience with a girl who loves him. Every lunch hour, we went to the local shopping centre and we walked past the same t-shirt shop every time. In that shop was a Justin Bieber shirt, which never failed to spark a discussion about him. She did make some good points, but I still am set in stone in my opinion that his music is terrible.

Which is why today's song, should you dare to press play, is his most annoying and repetitive song yet- Baby. I read about him in a Girlfriend magazine once upon a seemingly long time ago, and I thought no more. And then, when in Diva (jewellery shop), I heard it. The worst song I'd ever heard, up until Rebecca Black's Friday. Which I've heard songs worse than still (yes, it is possible) from T-WAC, my ninja follower (and frequent commenter) of the awesome blog, There's A Walrus In Your Shirt, Mr. Campell! You should all check it out. He has good music.

For those of you who haven't seen the terror, and those daring ones who wish to (having seen it or not), here's the video:

Baby- Justin Bieber

I've already done the spiel on Justin Bieber anyhow, which, if you haven't already read, can be found here! Even so, I think the video is just a little bit horrible, just because it's in a bowling alley. Because so much depth can be found in a bowling alley *note sarcasm*.

Tomorrow's post will contain a song that is a guilty pleasure. I have an idea, and I'm going to try and be clever. But it probably won't be. But just bear with me anyway.

Day Eleven: A Song By My Favourite Band

I tried to make a deal with myself to see how long I could go without posting on them, but I have to do it now. I bet you all can guess who my favourite band is. One I mention very regularly. One I really, really love. One who is touring in July, but I can't go. Well, it will be my first week in New Zealand, so I'm not as upset as I would've been, had I not been somewhere equally as epic.

Yes, I am talking about that incredibly awesome Aussie boy band- the one, the only...

SHORT STACK!!!

I am a fangirl by nature, but there is no band I obsess over quite as much as Short Stack. Or Paramore or Evanescence, or my beautiful unsigned wonders (The Monster Goes Rawrr and The Never Ever). But a lot of Short Stack. I actually have every single one of their songs ever released. All. Of. Them. All forty.

So, now to pick a song to actually post... that's not easy. I could happily post them all. But I'll spare you my obsession, and I'll stick with just the one. I'm going to post Sway Sway Baby! That's the first song I ever saw; the song that sparked my love, and the passion that I wish would have me married to Bradie Webb (I wish). I saw them perform it live on Rove with neighbour dearest, and after sitting with our mouths on the floor for the whole three minutes, we wouldn't shut up. Like I can't now. I'm just going to post the video now.

Sway Sway Baby!- Short Stack

WARNING!! Some of you may find the themes in this video a little offensive, just putting it out there. Just in case you are one of those people.

Tomorrow's topic: a song from a band I hate. I already have one in mind. And, that's all, folks! Stay tuned!!

Day Ten: A Song That Makes Me Fall Asleep

I tried to post earlier. I promise I did. But I couldn't. So, I'll post now instead.

A song that makes me fall asleep- there isn't really any. I listen to music when I want to relax, so I have a habit of listening to it before I fall asleep. My iPod goes on shuffle. There's no specific answer to that category.

So, I'm going to go with a song that relaxes me- Fix You by Coldplay. Yeah, it's the second Coldplay song I've posted, and surprisingly I haven't posted any Short Stack yet- I've been trying to restrain myself. But Coldplay are awesome!!

I've gotta say, I'm not really keen on the video. Quite frankly, it's boring. But there's worse. At least it accompanies a good song!! Here it is:

Fix You- Coldplay

I don't really have much else to post about. Except the dress of my dreams. Yes, I've found a dress that I adore, very, very much. See, I'm looking for a formal dress at the moment. It's the first time I've ever had a reason to do so, and it's exciting for me. What is the reason? When I'm in New Zealand, I'll be a part of a Youth Group, and they hold an annual ball in late August- early September.

Mum found a little boutique that we never knew about, and she suggested we go in and have a look. I found a $30 dress which was pretty but simple, but a little big. As I walked to put it back, I saw it. Mint green, mid-thigh, one-shouldered, darts in the side, fitting me better than anything has ever fit me in my whole life. It's beautiful. I haven't bought it yet, but I will. That's a promise. Also, I'm 90% sure Blondie will harm me if I leave it. But she won't have to.

Anyway, tomorrow's post, day eleven, will be a song from my favourite band. Bet you can already guess what band that is, can't you?

Day Nine: A Song I Can Dance To

So, last night's Glee was rather epic, as promised. I think it's a really good show. Besides having really good music, and the fact that they can make most songs sound good; some even better than they actually are *coughcough Justin Bieber's Somebody To Love, coughcough*. That's with the exception of Friday. I still hate that song. Even when Glee covered it. It's still horrible. Always will be.

Anyway, today's topic is... a song I can dance to. Like I said, there's many, many songs I can dance to very easily. When I go out with my friends, I dance to whatever the DJ plays. Except for Justin Bieber. That results in us sitting in the middle of the floor and refusing to move until the song ends.

I'd say one of the very best ones, the one I can not possibly sit still for would be Shake It by Metro Station! They've broken up now which really, really sucks, but they have good songs. Well, Seventeen Forever and Shake It anyway. I haven't heard the others. Here's the video, for those of you who haven't yet seen it in the three years its been out:

Shake It- Metro Station

It's funny.... it's actually not utterly easy for me to name a particular song, just the one, out of all the songs that I can dance to. I have loved this song since it came out, and I was wishing that I had it ever since. Then last year, I bought a CD with it on it, and I was finally content. Until, of course, another several incredible songs were released by amazing artists and my quest began again.

Anyway, I'm going to leave you all with a question- I am going to go and find a duck when I'm in New Zealand, and I plan on naming it. One slight problem... I don't have a name. Gather your friends, parents, everyone, and think up your coolest duck names and post them in the comments box here...anyways, tomorrow I will name a song that makes me fall asleep... yeah, right. As if any particular song makes me fall asleep.... I have an idea for it though. I'll explain tomorrow night!

Day Eight: A Song I Know All The Words To

Hey everyone... so I know I haven't been posting like I said I would, but in my defence I've been a busy work experience girl at the local court house, which is So. Much. Fun. Yeah, there's a heck of a lot of paperwork and all, but I love it. I actually get to sit in on trials and everything, which is really, really interesting for me. Today I spent the day in the coroner's office. Despite it sounding really morbid, seeing as it's to do with deaths, I loved being there. I don't know why, just something about it...

But that's not the point of the post. What is the point is a song that I know all the words to. Like I said, that is so easy. It could be any Short Stack song. It could be something by P!nk. Maybe even a little bit of Paramore, naturally there's Not Pretty Enough by Kasey Chambers, and of course Justin Bieber. No, I don't listen to him. His songs are just so simple and easy that you only have to know how to say one word (Baby), maybe even a large stretch of two (One Time), and you know the whole song.

I'm not referring to those songs though. I could, but I'm not going to, because there's the song that was the first song I sang in public. Besides singing stupidly with my friends and getting funny looks from randoms. Sk8er Boi by Avril Lavigne. My best-friend-in-the-whole-wide-world's favourite song when she was five. It was the first song I ever sang properly in front of people by myself. I was in choir for like, four years in primary. Anyways, here's the video:

Sk8er Boi- Avril Lavigne

Tomorrow's post- a song that I can dance to. Hmm, I think that's supposed to mean dancing properly? As opposed to my weird dance that I do when I'm trying to convince my friends of something, or that I do when I'm really bored... stay tuned!! I'm going to go because there are cookies in the house and Glee is going to be on in fifteen minutes. And they're doing Lady GaGa again. Yeah, I like Lady GaGa. I think she's a real individual, which is why I think she's awesome!! (In case you haven't noticed just by reading my blog, I'm an individual too, haha).

Day Seven: A Song That Reminds Me Of A Certain Event

So, it's been a week since I started the challenge... and I've posted every day but one! Today is a song that reminds me of a certain event... yeah, there's plenty of those too. But I've decided to name one that's significant in two different ways- Not Pretty Enough by Kasey Chambers. Yeah, it's a different sort of song for me, but I love it very much.

Firstly, Kasey Chambers was my first ever favourite singer, and my favourite song of hers was this one. Ever since I was little I've been able to sing all the words to it, in time and tune. I've always been a fan of hers really. She is talented and is great in concert.

Yes, that's right! In 2007 when she brought out her fourth album, Carnival, she came on tour very locally. I'd heard about it from one of my friends who was also a fan of hers, and she was going to the concert. I really, badly, desperately wanted to go, but I really doubted it. Then on my eleventh birthday, I unwrapped the tiniest little present and learned that good things really do come in small packages!

I went with mum to my first ever concert. It was really cool to see her up on that stage, especially because I'd performed on it before and had since, and to know that I was sharing the stage with someone I really admired was incredible. She may not be that tall, but she has the biggest voice! I honestly think she didn't even need her microphone that much. She easily could have filled the whole room with her voice.

Here's the music video (which was the first time I ever heard the song):

Not Pretty Enough- Kasey Chambers

So, tomorrow's topic is... *drumroll* dandadaDA *lame trumpet noise*!! A song that I know all the words too. Shouldn't be too hard!! Anyway, I'm going to go and continue my Short Stack TV mini marathon from last night... after dinner; I'm so hungry!!

Day Six: A Song That Reminds Me Of Somewhere

Firstly, I would like to vent my excitement (for those of you who may not have realised exactly how nerdy I can really be) about the English assignment we got to day!! It's a piece of descriptive writing!! I bet at least 60% of you are reading this, head in your hands thinking, "Oh my God." But I'm excited! We have to describe a person or a place, and I've chosen to write about my lovely neighbour. We have three weeks, but I'm pretty sure I could easily have it finished like, tonight.

Anyway, today I have to find a song that reminds me of somewhere. I can think of many of songs to fit that category as I always can, but this one has a specific memory. I'm talking about Viva La Vida by Coldplay. It reminds me of the bus.

It sounds strange, but it does. I catch the bus from my school to my little sisters' school every afternoon, and on Tuesdays we go to mum's work. I decided to sit up the back with the other girls in my grade this particular day and one of them had their iPod. We sat there listening and singing loudly to Viva La Vida. It was pretty awesome because we didn't know half the words. Especially when the bus stopped in traffic next to another bus filled with little kids. One of them was waving hello. We were waving back and he decided to show us his picture that he'd drawn. One of the girls thought that was so cute she made a love heart with her hands. We all ended up bursting out laughing when he saw that and raised his eyebrows at her. Very funny and very cute.

Here's the video to Viva La Vida. I haven't actually seen it before, but I'll post it anyway.

Viva La Vida- Coldplay

Tomorrow I'll post on a song that reminds me of a certain event. Right now, I'm going to go and work on my English assignment!! But before I do, I wanted to let you know (if you didn't know about it already) about an awesome little site called Wattpad! I've now made an account and I'm posting some of my stories on there; it'd be awesome if you could check them out here!

Day Five: A Song That Reminds Me Of Someone

So, Day Five... a song that reminds me of someone... a pretty open-ended category if you ask me. I mean, really, I could easily say that the song Mannequin reminds me of Katy Perry, because she sings it. Or that you're reminded of the amazing Christofer Drew Ingle (if you don't know him by name; he's the guy in Nevershoutnever! by his song Your Biggest Fan (which is pretty darn amazing).

While I think of an answer, I am going to welcome my newest follower and friend, the beautiful Nyta!! (Say hello, Nyta!!). I now have twelve followers, which is pretty amazing for me, because I didn't actually expect to have any, so thanks to anyone who reads this, follower or not!!

Ok, I think I got one. I'm going to have to say The Only Exception by Paramore. Because Paramore is amazing and it's a pretty song. Of course, the question is, who does it remind me of? I'm not going to name names, but it reminds me of the person I like. I've had my heart broken and when I almost gave up hope, they showed me why I shouldn't. Not going out with them, but maybe someday...

Before I say something really stupid there, I'm going to stop and post the video. I think the video is awesome and fits the song really well!!

The Only Exception- Paramore

I'm going to head off and play a bit of piano; tomorrow's post will be a song that reminds me of somewhere! Stay tuned, folks!

Day Four: A Song That Makes Me Sad

I'd have to say that today, Day Four, would have to be the easiest day of the challenge yet. There's nothing that could quite compare to this song in the category of sad songs. And when you hear the song and watch the music video, you'll understand.

I'm talking about a little song called Concrete Angel by Martina McBride. Before Smiley showed me it to me, I'd never heard of it. I didn't fully believe it when she said exactly how sad it was. The only thing I can watch that really makes me cry that hard is the movie Marley and Me. But I saw this on YouTube and I understood.

It's a really beautiful song and it has a really important message. It's really unsettling to know that this sort of thing does happen to people, even kids as small and fragile as the one in the video. You might be able to guess what I'm talking about as it's a pretty important issue, but in case you haven't, I'm not going to completely give it away. Here's the video:

Concrete Angel- Martina McBride

It's really something, isn't it? Tomorrow I have to post a song that reminds me of someone. Stay tuned!!

Day Three: A Song That Makes Me Happy

I can honestly say that there is no shortage at all of songs that make me happy. I could go through my entire iTunes library and 99.9% of them make me happy. Especially the ones that I can dance to, but not typical dance songs. More like electro/pop/punk stuff.

Hmm, what song does make me happy? That's not that hard. I would have to say that it's a song I've mentioned before. A very amazing person, who is very popular and for good reason. She also has amazing concerts, or so I've heard.

I must firstly admit that I was very upset that I couldn't go to her concert for her album, Funhouse.
Yes, you guessed it- it's a P!nk song. My mum, Blondie, Blondie's mum and I were planning to go to her concert when she was in Brisbane. Dad was at the computer, hand poised on the mouse, ready to secure our seats. No such luck. The second release? Neither. So we couldn't go. Disappointing!

Anyway, one of their songs that makes me happy. All of them. But I have to choose one. One that makes me happiest out of all of them. Could it be Leave Me Alone (I'm Lonely)? Yes, but no. I'm talking about So What. The most epic song she's ever written. The one that inspires my girls to seize their hairbrushes and sing and dance to it whenever it's played.

Whenever it's played. No exceptions. Which means in public places, too.

I guess it's about time I posted the video, which is as amazing as the song. Tomorrow's music challenge fun is to find a song that makes me sad. Already in my mind, but you'll just have to wait!!

So What- P!nk
